Randy Bennett

Randy Bennett, Norman O. Frederiksen Chair in Assessment Innovation at ETS in Princeton, NJ. Since the 1980s. Dr. Bennett has conducted research on integrating advances in cognitive science, technology, and measurement to create new approaches to assessment intended to have positive impact on teaching and learning. For his work, he received the ETS Senior Scientist Award in 1996, the ETS Career Achievement Award in 2005, the Teachers College, Columbia University Distinguished Alumni Award in 2016, Fellow status in the American Educational Research Association (AERA) in 2017, the National Council on Measurement in Education’s (NCME) Bradley Hanson Award for Contributions to Educational Measurement in 2019 (with H. Guo, M. Zhang, and P. Deane), the E. F. Lindquist Award from AERA and ACT in 2020, elected membership in the National Academy of Education in 2022. His most recent work centers on the definition and theory of socioculturally responsive assessment.

Ellen Meier, Professor of Computing and Educational Practice, Teachers College, Columbia University. Dr. Meier is also Director of the Center for Technology and School Change (CTSC); and Coordinator of the Educational Technology Specialist Program at Teachers College, Columbia University. The Center works with hundreds of teachers and administrators each year, nationally and internationally, to research the shifts needed to create more inquiry-based, culturally-relevant and sustaining classroom environments. Using technology as a catalyst, CTSC has developed a successful change model, Innovating Instruction. Dr. Meier co-chairs the Technology, Policy, and Practices Council for the New York Board of Regents and serves as Co-Editor for the CITE Journal. Dr. Meier was recently recognized by Business Insider as leading one of the ten outstanding international STEM MOOC courses.
Matt Dawson

Matt Dawson, Senior Director, Efficacy & Implementation Research at Curriculum Associates. In this role, Dr. Dawson is responsible for rigorously evaluating the impact of Curriculum Associates’ educational programs and understanding why they work, for whom, and under what conditions. Matt has been doing education research for more than 20 years, and his experience includes more than 10 years at the Institute of Education Sciences Funded Regional Educational Laboratory–Midwest, where he served as Director. Matt holds a Ph.D. in Human Development and Family Science with a specialization in Educational Evaluation from Ohio State University.
Karyn Lewis
Senior research scientist with the Center for School and Student Progress at NWEA
Karyn Lewis, Senior research scientist at NWEA. Dr. Lewis co-leads NWEA’s ongoing research on the impacts of COVID-19 on student achievement and growth. Her research interests focus on the interplay between students’ academic growth and achievement, their social-emotional development and well-being, and how they experience their school’s climate. Prior to joining NWEA, she was a senior researcher at Education Northwest where she led a diverse portfolio of applied research, technical assistance, and evaluation projects centered around social and emotional learning. Dr. Lewis is a former Data Fellow with the Strategic Data Project at the Harvard Center for Education Policy Research. She completed a National Science Foundation funded postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Colorado Boulder and earned a PhD from the University of Oregon in social psychology with a concentration in quantitative methods.

Fenot Aklog, Director of Monitoring, Evaluation & Research at the Institute for Student Achievement (ISA)—a K-12 school intermediary organization and a division of the Educational Testing Service (ETS). ISA partners with under-resourced and underserved schools and districts to provide teacher and leader coaching and other professional learning supports aimed at transforming school and classroom learning environments. Dr. Aklog has over two decades of experience in the monitoring, evaluation, and research of school reform initiatives in the US and internationally. Prior to joining ISA she worked at the National Center for Restructuring Education Schools and Teaching at Teachers College, Columbia University where she co-founded its international division and secured multiyear international school reform technical assistance contracts. She holds an Ed.D. in International and Comparative Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
