FWE and HKUST Co-Host Conference on AI, Technology, and Education
The Forum for World Education, in partnership with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), recently hosted a landmark two-day international conference at HKUST’s Shaw Auditorium. The FWE–HKUST Conference on AI, Technology, and Education brought together over 150 global school leaders, educators, and technology innovators under the theme “Better AI · Better Technology · Better Education · Better World” to explore the latest trends and opportunities in AI-driven education.
Together, FWE and HKUST created a forward-looking, cross-sector dialogue platform that transcended traditional conference formats. The event united government representatives, university researchers, and EdTech leaders alongside frontline primary and secondary school principals, teachers, and students — fostering meaningful exchange and deeper collaboration across sectors.
The conference opened with a keynote address by Dr. CHOI Yuk-Lin, JP, Secretary for Education of the HKSAR Government, titled “The Power and Perils of AI for Primary and Secondary Education.” Dr. Choi assessed the current landscape of AI integration in local schools, highlighting key achievements and addressing systemic challenges facing school management, teachers, and students alike. Reaffirming the Government’s commitment to education innovation through technology, she outlined several forward-looking initiatives — including the HK$500 million “AI for Empowering Learning and Teaching Funding Programme,” the newly established AI Literacy and Competency Learning Framework, and the Digital Education Blueprint.
