Grace Na
Born with Korean roots in Southern California, Grace is driven by a lifelong passion for empowering disadvantaged populations through cross-border educational advocacy. Her experiences living in Beijing, Seoul, and New York have equipped and provided her with opportunities to work with diverse populations and at different scales of organization. At the community level, Grace has provided direct educational assistance to low-income youth and refugees at nonprofit organizations across Asia and the United States. At the national level, she has assisted in the advocacy for human rights before government bodies in Washington D.C. and New York. At the international engagement level, she has interned for a number of United Nations organizations and associations such as UNESCO and WFUNA. It was her time volunteering at a social enterprise that provides women coming out of exploitation with education and business opportunities in Asia, however, that launched her into examining the close relationship between public policy and educational access. After writing a thesis on this topic through a comparative case study, Grace decided to expand her advocacy skills and knowledge of the subject through an M.A. in International Educational Development at Teachers College, Columbia University. Upon graduating, she wholeheartedly threw herself into building the Forum for World Education (FWE) from its beginning stages as a venue for developing international and intersectional solutions to educational inequities.
